Join Us

Our small but dedicated group of volunteers is always looking for people like you to join us in Fernie or Elkford. We offer a comprehensive first aid course, ongoing training, a great uniform, and the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping people on the hill. And, of course, discounts on equipment, earn credits towards your season pass, social events, and a community of like-minded people to hang out with.
In return, all we require is that you take the first aid training (included in your annual membership fee) and that you sign up for patrolling on the days that suit you throughout the ski season. Work as many or as few days as you wish - it's up to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a world-class skier to join?

  • No. You need to be a solid intermediate skier to patrol. If you don't feel confident on all areas of the mountain, we can work with you to improve your skiing under our mentorship program.

What is the time commitment?

  • You can patrol as much or as little as you like.  However to earn a pass for next year, there is a minimum number of days required.

I already have first aid training.  Do I still need to take your course?

  • If you have a first aid course like OFA 3, OEC or WFA, you may not need to do the CSP first aid course in its entirety. Contact us for details.

I am a patroller in another region.  Can I patrol at your hill for a few days?

  • Certainly.  You will just have to attend our lift evacuation training in early December.

Can I patrol on a snowboard or telemark skis?

  • You can patrol on a snowboard or telemark skis provided you pass a proficiency test and attend a toboggan handling clinic.
